Vinegar

I used to turn my nose up when my mom would mention all the uses for vinegar. I'm finding that it is wonderful stuff. I will give you a few of the ones I have found and tried and some I haven't tried as of yet.

Drains:
Take a half to a cup of baking soda and pour down drain followed by vinegar. Watch it fizzle. Kids will love watching this. It will clean out gunk in your sink plus take away that yucky smell. I tell you it works great in garbage disposals.

Windows:
Ok most know about this one. Take equal parts of vinegar and water and put in a spray bottle. Spray and wipe with newspapers. Watch the shine!

Water marks on wood:
Rings resulting of not using coasters on a wood surface can be removed by using a mixture of equal parts of white vinegar and olive oil. Remember to rub with the grain to get the best results.

Get rid of pests on pets:
Use a teaspoon of white vinegar for each quart bowl of drinking water for the pet. The ratio of one teaspoon to one quart is for forty pound animal. This will help keep your pet free of fleas and ticks.  I have not tried this yet and plan on doing it today since we live in the south and have an outside dog.

Fabric softener:
Use a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle of your laundry. Your closes will come out soft. Plus this is good for your washer. Two things at once!

Fruit and vegetable wash:
Add two tablespoons of white vinegar to one pint water and put in spray bottle. Spray for bacteria free fruits and veggies.

This is just a few of the things you can use vinegar for. The list is endless! Why use expensive chemical filled products you get at the store when you can just use plain ole vinegar!

    1. I found a whole list of stuff to use it. I will try and add more. I'm for sure trying the one to keep the flees and ticks off dogs. I'm sure our dog, Blue will be happy with it if it works even a little.

  3. I tried using a mixture of vinegar and water for washing strawberries. They lasted a week without molding! I have also sprayed it directly on ants and it killed them!
Thank you for visiting Cackleberry Cottage. I hope to get back to more regular posting again!

    1. That is awesome to know that the strawberries lasted so long after washing them. Nice to know that I can wash them and not have to use them right then.
